Your Breast Lift Plastic Surgery Consultation

Your Breast Lift Plastic Surgery Consultation | Pepper Pike | ClevelandBreast lift is a body contouring cosmetic surgery designed to tighten the sagging breasts and provide them a youthful lift.

The surgeon will schedule a pre-op consultation to determine candidacy and address the patient’s doubts and concerns. They will use the consultation opportunity to educate the patient about all aspects of breast lift and help her make an informed decision.

Consultation is a vital part of the overall surgery process, and the patient should proactively participate in it. A good consultation will lay the foundation for a successful breast lift surgery procedure. Patients in Beachwood, Pepper Pike, Cleveland, OH, and surrounding communities have an opportunity to receive breast lift from illustrious, committed, and board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Bram Kaufman.

Patient’s Inputs

During the breast lift consultation, one of the first things that the surgeon will seek to know is which aspects of the breast appearance may be troubling the patient, and whether she is making an independent choice about breast lift.

The surgeon will also need to have information about the patient’s present health condition and her past health records. Patient’s cooperation and her correct feedback will help the surgeon to create a safe and effective breast lift surgery plan.

Patient’s Cosmetic Goals

The surgeon will encourage the patient to share her innate cosmetic needs and goals with regard to her breast appearance. They will utilize these inputs to develop a customized breast lift surgery plan. This will allow them to create most effective outcomes in a less invasive manner, while achieving high patient satisfaction levels.

Current Health Status

To save time during the breast lift cosmetic surgery consultation, it is a good idea if the patient arranges for her previous medical records from the physician and specialist to be sent to the surgeon’s office in advance.

The patient should be forthcoming about any current underlying health condition, known allergies, or autoimmune disease. The surgeon can modify the procedure as needed in order to minimize the risk of surgery.

Ongoing Medications and Supplements

The patient should preferably note down all the prescription and non-prescription medications that she may be currently using, and also include any herbal supplements and vitamins in that list. She can present this list to the surgeon during the consultation.

The patient should also inform the surgeon about any specific lifestyle habits such as smoking. This will allow them to adjust the medication schedules and provide appropriate instructions to stop smoking for a few weeks to ensure a safer and more predictable surgery.

Questions and Answers

During the pre-op consultation, the patient will have an opportunity to ask questions about breast lift surgery as well as the surgeon’s professional credentials. She should freely ask questions and make a decision only once she is fully satisfied.

Other Aspects

Breast lift consultation will also give an opportunity to the patient to learn about the estimated costs, financing and insurance possibilities. The surgeon may present breast lift before and after photos to help her form realistic expectations. Stellar and salient plastic surgeon Dr. Kaufman receives patients from Beachwood, Pepper Pike, Cleveland, OH, and other cities and neighborhoods in The Mother of Presidents state for breast lift.

Breast Lift Plastic Surgery Recovery

Breast Lift Plastic Surgery | Cleveland | Pepper Pike Cosmetic SurgeonRecovery is an important component in the overall breast lift cosmetic surgery procedure. How quickly a patient recovers after breast lift can depend on factors such as the breast lift technique used, how diligently the patient follows the post-op care instructions of the surgeon, and the patient’s natural healing ability.

During the initial consultation, the surgeon will educate the patient about all aspects of breast lift, including the recovery process.

Remarkable, focused, and board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Bram Kaufman provides breast lift and various other surgical and non-surgical cosmetic procedures to patients in Beachwood, Pepper Pike, Cleveland, OH, and other suburbs and cities in The Buckeye State.

Immediate Post-operative Phase

As soon as the breast lift surgery is completed, the patient will be shifted to a recovery area for monitoring for a few hours. The breast area will be wrapped in bandages, and the patient will be provided with a surgical bra for extra support to the breasts.

The patient will be required to wear the surgical bra for several weeks in order to allow the breasts to heal faster with reduced swelling. The breast surgery will usually be performed under general anesthesia, but most patients can return home the same day.

For the first few hours, the patient will have some linger after-effects of anesthesia. As the effect wears off, she will start feeling pain and soreness. This will be addressed with pain meds provided by the surgeon. The patient should have someone to drive her back home after the surgery.

Someone should also be available to assist the patient for the first one or two days after the cosmetic surgery procedure at home. The patient and her caregiver will be provided with a set of post-op care instructions to help the patient get through the recovery period safely and comfortably.

First Week of Recovery

For the first three to five days, most patients experience mild soreness and pain in the breasts, which can be improved with pain medications. Bruising and swelling will be pronounced at this stage, but will begin subsiding from the next week. The patient should perform light activities and short walks in the first few days, but any kind of heavy exercise or lifting of heavy weights should be avoided.

Some patients may feel tightness in the chest and breathing difficulty during the first few days. The condition is more likely to occur where breast lift is performed along with breast augmentation surgery. But the symptoms will start subsiding after the first week. The surgeon will recommend the patient to rest in a semi-upright position during the first week to remain more comfortable and allow for easier healing.

Long-term Recovery

Most patients can return to their normal routine or go back to work after the first week. The surgeon will remove the drains and sutures at this time. But the patient should avoid vigorous exercise, bending and lifting of heavy weights for about one month.

Swelling will completely resolve over a few months, and full results of breast lift will gradually establish in this time period. Experienced and sagacious plastic surgeon Dr. Kaufman receives patients from Beachwood, Pepper Pike, Cleveland, OH, and other neighborhoods and towns in northern Ohio for a breast lift.

How much does breast lift surgery cost?

Breast lift surgery cost | Cleveland | Pepper Pike Cosmetic SurgeonBreast lift cosmetic surgery costs can differ between two practices, and sometimes even between two patients at the same practice. Where the practice is located, what are the charges of anesthesia and the fees of the surgical venue, the fee charged by the surgeon and pre- and post-surgical expenses are some of the key factors that will influence the overall monetary amount.

The surgeon will apprise the patient of the estimated costs during the initial consultation. In most cases, breast lift costs will not be covered by insurance because the procedure is performed primarily for cosmetic reasons. Therefore, patients should be aware of their financing options.

Remarkable, committed, and board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Bram Kaufman provides breast lift to patients in Beachwood, Pepper Pike, Cleveland, OH, and various other neighborhoods and cities in this part of north Ohio.

Length and Complexity of Surgery

The surgeon will assess the unique anatomical and cosmetic needs of the patient to create a customized breast lift cosmetic surgery plan. Some patients may only require a subtle lift to the breast tissue, while others may need a more significant lift, including muscle repositioning and raising the nipples and areolas to a more youthful level. These aspects will have a bearing on the actual cost of the breast lift surgery.

Surgical Venue

Breast lift surgery may be performed at a hospital, an accredited surgery center, or a private surgical suite. Each option will have different costs and benefits associated with it. In exceptional situations, a patient may require an overnight hospital stay, which will add to the costs. General anesthesia in case of breast lift may be performed by anesthesiologist or a registered nurse anesthetist, who will charge a fee according to their qualifications and experience.

Combined Surgery

In several cases, breast lift may be combined with breast augmentation or tummy tuck surgery, or performed as a part of a mommy makeover. A combination of breast implants and breast lift can help a woman achieve larger as well as firmer breasts, if she suffers from both loss of breast volume and loose breast skin.

In a combined surgery, the overall cost-effectiveness improves because the costs of anesthesia, surgical facility expenses, and the surgeon’s fee are incurred only once. But the absolute costs will be higher because of the combined procedure.

Insurance

The financial repercussions of obtaining a breast lift may be fully or partially covered under medical insurance in rare circumstances. If the patient suffers from pain, rashes, infection, or obstruction of movement due to severely sagging breasts, insurance coverage may be a possibility. Profound and exceptional plastic surgeon Dr. Kaufman receives patients from Beachwood, Pepper Pike, Cleveland, OH, and other communities and suburbs in The Buckeye State for breast lifts.

Financing

Some patients may not want to pay upfront for the breast lift costs, but this should not deter them to receiving the benefits of breast lift. Professional medical care financing companies can offer them specialized loans with competitive interest rates and affordable monthly installments of up to 60 months. The patient should also discuss the payment methods with the surgeon’s office in order to select the best way to pay for the procedure.

Breast Lift Plastic Surgery Before and After Photos

Breast Lift Plastic Surgery Before and After Photos | ClevelandBreast lift cosmetic surgery procedure is designed to remove excess skin from the breasts to provide them a subtle lift and create a more youthful and perkier breast appearance. During the pre-op consultation, the breast surgeon will educate the patient about various aspects of breast lift to help her make a well-considered decision.

Some surgeons may like to present breast lift before and after photographs during the initial consultation. This enables the patient to understand the potential effectiveness of the procedure in a better way.

Salient and board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Bram Kaufman provides breast lift and other cosmetic procedures to patients in Beachwood, Pepper Pike, Cleveland, OH, and surrounding communities in this area of The Birthplace of Aviation.

What are Breast Lift Before and After Pictures?

Before and after pictures in case of breast lift cosmetic surgery refer to images belonging to a past patient who has undergone the same surgery with a satisfactory outcome. The images include pictures taken before the surgery and after the surgery at a time when the post-operative bruising and swelling has subsided and full effects of breast lift are visible.

The surgeon will take care to ensure that the photographs are obtained with the patient’s full consent and shown to new patients in a discreet and appropriate way. The patient’s identity may be kept confidential as per the established norm. The surgeon’s sole purpose in this effort is to use these photos as a visual aid to let new patients know what breast lift can or cannot do for them.

Benefits

A woman seeking a breast lift surgery may sometimes have only a limited idea of how the procedure can enhance her breast appearance, and whether it will meet her personal cosmetic goals or not. Some women may want only a subtle lift, while some others may require a significant tightening of the breasts as well as repositioning of the nipples.

In many cases, a woman may need both breast lift and breast implant surgery as a combined procedure. In each situation, the patient will be in a better position to make an informed choice when she has access to breast lift before and after photos.

The real substantive difference maker here is virtual technology. Gone are the days when a patient had to rely on some ambiguous brochure that left you wanting more or some vague picture book with unclear Polaroid pictures. Now you can see vivid pictures via virtual technology on a website and Dr. Kaufman’s practice knows all about this.

Now any patient can make a deeply personal decision without anyone else knowing, not even the surgeon. Not one phone call needs to be made which makes this very convenient for any person contemplating this decision. These amazing and state of the art pictures can be seen anywhere you can gain access to the Internet such as your own home!

Being Realistic

Highest patient satisfaction levels in a cosmetic procedure such as breast lift are typically achieved by patients who have a positive state of mind, clear aesthetic priorities and realistic expectations. Therefore, many surgeons prefer to present breast lift before and after photos at the very first appointment. This allows the patient to know clear what the procedure can or cannot do for her.

Patients with realistic expectations are often able to appreciate the final outcomes in a better way and feel happier with their new body image. Outstanding and perspicacious plastic surgeon Dr. Kaufman receives patients from Beachwood, Pepper Pike, Cleveland, OH, and other suburbs and cities in this part of the Midwest for a breast lift.

Photos Online

The surgeon has an option to provide breast lift before and after photos on their practice website in a dedicated Photo Gallery section which Dr. Kaufman does. They may also choose to disseminate these photos via photo sharing social media sites for wider exposure.

Breast Lift Plastic Surgery

Breast Lift Plastic Surgery | Cleveland | Pepper Pike Cosmetic SurgeonAccording to the figures published by the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, breast lift currently ranks among the top five cosmetic surgery procedures in the US. The demand for breast lift is on the rise because many women now prefer to have more subtle breast shape enhancement and want to achieve more natural looking outcomes and appearances.

Moms who want to restore their pre-pregnancy look also choose breast lift to appear more sensuous and feel more confident about their body. Breast lift is sometimes combined with breast augmentation surgery to create more effective results.

The surgeon will explain about breast lift to the patient during the initial consultation. Sagacious and board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Bram Kaufman provides breast lift to patients in Beachwood, Pepper Pike, Cleveland, OH, and surrounding locations in The Mother of Presidents.

Candidacy

A candidate for breast lift should have a good general health to sustain the surgery and anesthesia. She would typically be bothered by the appearance of sagging breasts and downward pointing nipples. Breast tissue laxity and loss of breast volume may occur in such candidates due to aging, weight fluctuations, pregnancy, or heredity factors.

The woman should ideally be above the age of 18, and have stable and moderate body weight. She should not be pregnant or nursing, and should have no near-term plans for a pregnancy. She should be a non-smoker or be committed to quit smoking for a time period specified by the surgeon.

Procedure

Standard Breast Lift

In this cosmetic surgery technique, an anchor shaped incision will be created, including an incision around the areola, and another one going vertically down to the breast base. The surgeon will create a third incision horizontally along the breast crease. With this traditional breast lift surgery, it is possible to significantly reduce sagginess from the lower half of the breast.

Doughnut Breast Lift

In comparison to a standard breast lift, this technique does not involve significant skin reduction. Downtime is reduced and scarring is minimal. The surgeon will create a circumferential incision around the areola to remove a limited amount of tissue. The technique is well-suited for women with smaller sized breasts. Areola reshaping may also be included as part of this procedure.

Lollipop Breast Lift

This vertical breast lift technique falls somewhere in-between a doughnut breast lift and a standard lift. The surgeon will place an incision in the areola border, and another small incision will be created vertically down to the breast crease. This technique can help produce a moderate degree of lift to the breast tissue.

Recovery

Breast lift surgery will usually involve a downtime of about one week. The patient is likely to go through mild pain and soreness in the incision sites in the first week, but it can be managed with prescription pain meds. To ensure that the breast tissue acquires its new shape and position, the patient will be required to wear a surgical bra for a few weeks.

In a few cases, lab or diagnostic tests may be ordered. If the patient has previously undergone a hand cosmetic surgery, the past surgical records will be assessed.

The patient should be prepared to disclose full information about any prescription and non-prescription drugs, including herbal supplements and vitamins that they may be currently taking. If the patient is a smoker, the surgeon will require them to quit the habit for at least a specified time period prior to the surgery.

They will also discuss about the estimated time for recovery and the expected results of hand surgery. The patient can make a well-considered decision after this comprehensive assessment from the surgeon.

Questionnaire on Hand Condition

Some surgeons may want the patient to fill a questionnaire related to their current hand condition in order to cover all relevant aspects. The questions may be related to the degree of pain experienced in the hands, the difficulties or restrictions in movement, the history of the problem, the abnormal signs and symptoms, and whether the condition has become worse over time.

The patient may be asked to perform certain hand movements in order to evaluate the exact difficulties. The surgeon will assess all this information in the context of any pre-existing conditions such as arthritis, osteoporosis, obesity, diabetes and anemia. The patient should inform if they have experienced a recent change in any medical condition. Some patients may need to undergo specialized x-rays of the wrist and forearm or even an MRI in order to evaluate their inner hand structures more precisely. Hand Surgery Risks and Safety

Hand Surgery Risks and Safety | Cleveland Plastic Surgery | OhioHand surgery may be performed as a corrective procedure, or a cosmetic surgery, or both. In each case, it will involve certain risks, which are inherent to almost any surgical procedure. During the pre-op consultation, the surgeon will educate the patient about all aspects of hand surgery, including the potential risks and safety aspects.

As part of the standard protocol, patients are required to sign consent forms to ensure that they have fully understood the procedure as well as the potential risks associated with it. Board certified and sensational plastic surgeon Dr. Bram Kaufman provides hand surgery to patients in Beachwood, Pepper Pike, Cleveland, OH, and surrounding communities in The Buckeye State.

Common Risks

If the hand surgery is performed to repair damaged tendons, it will have the following potential risks:

Infection

About five percent of the tendon repair patients may develop an infection. The risk is higher if the hand has sustained external damage and the wound is exposed to contaminants. Crushing injuries also increase the risk of infection. Signs of infection may include persistent redness and swelling in the hand, increasing pain or tenderness, or high fever following the hand surgery or plastic surgery. Common infections are often successfully treated with a course of antibiotics.

Repair Failure

In rare cases, a repair failure may occur. It will typically happen soon after the hand surgery when the tendon is at its weakest. If the patient fails to follow the surgeon’s instructions correctly about resting the operated tendon, a rupture may occur. Falls, trips or collisions may also cause rupture of the repaired tendon. The condition may necessitate additional surgery.

Tendon Adhesion

Tendon adhesion occurs when the tendons get stuck with the surrounding tissue and the hand movement becomes restricted. In severe cases of tendon adhesion, surgery may be required to free the stuck tendon. If the patient finds difficulty in moving the hand during rehabilitation or recovery phase, they should contact the surgeon.

Surgical Risks

Some of the potential risks which are typically associated with surgical procedures such as hand surgery include:

  • Bleeding (hematoma)
  • Blood clots
  • Infection
  • Poor reaction to anesthesia
  • Unfavorable scarring
  • Change in skin sensation
  • Skin contour irregularities
  • Skin discoloration
  • Poor healing of incisions
  • Allergies to tape, suture materials and glues
  • Deep vein thrombosis, cardiac and pulmonary complications
  • Damage to deeper structures
  • Persistent pain
  • Possibility of revision surgery

Additional Risks Specific to Hand Surgery

  • Recurrence or non-improvement of carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Extensor Tendon and Flexor Tendon: Failure of tendon repair, tendon scarring, poor function restoration, additional incisions in case tendon retraction
  • Tenolysis: Tendon rupture, recurrent tendon scarring, abnormal position of the tendon, fluid accumulation, wound breakdown
  • Tendon scarring and non-improvement in case of trigger finger

Hand Surgery Procedure Steps

Hand Surgery Procedure Steps | Cleveland Plastic Surgery | Pepper PikeHand surgery typically involves repair of injured joints or tendons, joint fusion, removal of diseased tissue, or joint replacement. To restore the natural appearance of the hand, cosmetic surgery may also be performed. A rehabilitation program usually follows the surgery to enable the patient to re-use their hand in the normal way.

At the time of pre-op consultation, the surgeon will educate the patient about the steps involved in the procedure.

Patients often feel more confident once they know what to expect during the surgery. Dr. Bram Kaufman is a board certified plastic surgeon providing hand surgery and other procedures to patients in Beachwood, Pepper Pike, Cleveland, OH, and other towns and cities in this part of Northern Ohio.

Anesthesia

Hand surgery or hand related cosmetic surgery may sometimes be performed using general anesthesia. This will be done by an anesthesiologist or a nurse anesthetist who will remain present in the surgery room throughout. Some patients may only require regional anesthetic in which a local anesthetic injection is administered to numb the hand and arm. The surgical procedure can last for about one to two hours.

Surgery

Once the patient is under anesthesia, the surgeon will begin the hand surgery procedure. Synovectomy procedure may be performed at the wrist if the patient requires removal of diseased tissue. If the bones have been partially destroyed due to arthritis, these may also be removed. If the wrist tendons are ruptured, the procedure may be performed in conjunction with tendon transfer surgery.

If the patient suffers from a painful joint, it may require joint replacement surgery of the hand. An artificial joint, usually made of a synthetic material, will be used to replace the damaged joint. Another treatment option available in some cases is joint fusion. This involves removal of the joint and causing stimulation of the bones to grow and build a solid bone segment. This technique will involve autologous bone grafting with tissue from another site along with pins or metal plates.

Hospital Stay

Hospital stay may not be required for minor hand surgeries, and patients can go back home the same day. In more complex cases, overnight stay at the hospital may be necessary because the patient will receive IV fluids to stay hydrated and will receive analgesic medication adjusted to their pain level.

Hospital Discharge

The patient is likely to be discharged with a plaster splint that will cause motion restrictions. To mitigate the swelling, they should keep the hand in a raised position. Once the patient is ready for discharge, they will be given oral medications and a follow-up appointment will be scheduled. This may be followed by five to six weeks of outpatient therapy for complete rehabilitation.

Physical Therapy

The patient may need physical therapy once or twice a week for up to six weeks following the hand surgery. Therapy should begin in about one to two weeks after the surgery as the swelling subsides. Stellar and salient plastic surgeon Dr. Kaufman receives patients from Beachwood, Pepper Pike, Cleveland, OH, and nearby areas for hand surgery and various other procedures.
